English 1st Paper Revised concise syllabus for SSC candidates 2021 under COVID 19 Pandemic
[Out of 14 units, 8 units have been taken from the EFT Text Book]
1. Unit Two: Pastimes
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- narrate incidents and events in a logical sequence
- participate in conversation, discussions, and debates
- read maps, charts, graphs, etc.
2. Unit Three: Events and Festivals
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- talk about events and festivals
- ask and answer questions and give opinions in a logical sequence
- infer meaning from the context
3. Unit Four: Are We aware?
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- ask and tell about problems
- seek and give suggestions
- listen for specific information
- narrate something in writing
- read charts and do a project work
4. Unit Five: Nature and Environment
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- comprehend and summarize texts
- ask and answer questions
- take part in debates on given topics
- take part in role-playing and conversations
- draft and deliver lectures on given topics
- write letters to newspapers highlighting certain problems
- write slogans for posters.
5. Unit Seven: People Who Stand Out
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- read and understand texts through silent reading
- ask and answer questions
- write a dialogue.
6. Unit Eight: World Heritage
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- listen for specific information
- read and understand texts
- through silent reading
- ask and answer questions
- describe a place
7. Unit Ten: Dreams
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- listen for specific information
- participate in conversations and discussions
- understand and narrate problems
- take and give interviews
- complete a grid.
8. Unit Eleven: Renewable Energy
Learning outcomes: Learners will be able to
- describe familiar objects
- participate in conversation and discussion
- read intensively and extensively
- write formal letters
9. Unseen Passage:
- Information transfer
- Summarizing
- Matching
- Rearranging
10. Unseen Passage:
- Information transfer
- Summarizing
Writing:
- 1. Writing a paragraph answering questions
- 2. Completing a story
- 3. Informal Letters/emails
Remarks:
- Graphs and charts have been excluded to minimize the burden of the learners. They may practice them at the next level.
- Dialogue has been omitted as the learners have already practiced it in the previous classes.
